Ideal for a small yard or quick job, a 12-volt rechargeable battery powers the trimmer at a rate of 8500 revolves per minute. The lightweight trimmer also is easy to maneuver while reducing the back stress associated with heavier trimmers and push mowers.
Black & Decker's cordless trimmer uses a .065-inch-diameter cutting line rather than a sharp blade to hack away overgrown grass with enhanced safety. The trimmer cuts an 8-inch breadth for fine pruning and includes a feed system bump to permit the line to move cleanly. To prevent unintentional start up, the trimmer includes an automatic lock-off switch. The trimmer's charger may be wall mounted for convenient trimmer storage while simultaneously recharging. The trimmer should be charged for 24 hours prior to initial use and should recharged regularly. Simple two-step assembly is required. No gas, no oil, no pull-cord to start, no extension cord to drag. Its trimming in a perfect world. This Black & Decker cordless string trimmer is compact, super-lightweight, simple to use and quiet. The 12-volt battery carries enough power to trim up the average yard after mowing, and its truly so easy to use that you wont even break a sweat. Its only 6-1/2 pounds, and maneuverable? Like a dream. Yet it spins the line at 8,500 rpm, enough "oomph" to trim even the most resistant weeds and grasses. An 8-inch cutting path is ideal for the homeowner, too. This trimmer is a little bit small, and the guard is a little small also. It is a well balanced unit and seems light enough to use, esp as a trimmer. When you turn it over to use as a edger is is a little difficult and off balance then. Also, like they said, if you beat it up against cement or rocks the line does tend to break. If you just want to trim grass and weeds, it works great for that. But if you want to dig down into the dirt to burn out the weeds or grass, then you will need a bit of patience as it will not do the heavy duty stuff as good as the corded trimmers do. They want you to leave it on the charger and the charger is made to hang on the wall. It does not tend to stay pluged in if you just lean the unit against the wall and try to plug the charger base in with out first mounting the base to the wall. But you can charge it that way if your careful to make sure that the light comes on. I plan to keep & use this unit, but I will not get rid of my corded trimmer. They both then to have their place and what they are good at.
