It works. The depth of where you place the crumpled newspaper could be deeper by 2-3 inches. The photo shown is upside down. You need to be able to shove a match under it to light. Coals are ready in about 10-15 minutes. It comes galvanized and seems to burn off the metal coating it comes with safely.
