This is an incredible value, given that lots of other "squirrel-proof" birdfeeders cost much more. I have five supposedly squirrel-proof feeders, and purchased this one at a local hardware store on a whim. It is the best one I now own. I have the Absolute II, which is not quite squirrel-proof with very smart black squirrels. I also have the Droll Yankee's dome feeder, which the squirrels use as a launch pad to get to other feeders. The Rogers & Kirkwood really is TOTALLY squirrel proof. I have mine hanging off a pole, which the squirrels climb, even with the skirt to prevent them from climbing. But when they reach out for the Rogers & Kirkwood, the feed door closes. There is no place for the squirrels to sit on this feeder while they try to figure out how to get at the seed with the door closed. TOTALLY GREAT PRODUCT!
